Network Management Systems

In today's deregulated environment, dynamic network management is an essential tool. Fujitsu has been creating advanced Network Management Systems (NMS) for many years, continuously evolving the leading edge carrier-grade FENS network management and information modelling system.

Fujitsu's FENS is designed to deliver the seamless, zero-touch tools required for rapid service activation and provision. Its integration history is extensive – spanning Q3 and CMIP, moving to agile implementations using RPC, SNMP and csv files, and evolving to web services architectures using XML and SOAP.

Extensive core network management functionality is complemented by key functions for access networks, such as dynamic query capabilities plus real-time equipment displays and location information. This enhances our customers' ability to meet ever-tightening Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with their customers, by allowing proactive as well as reactive test and diagnostic functions. In addition, FENS supports all the ITU-T TMN FCAPS and SWDL functions as standard, together with the advanced security features required for next generation networks.

Designed as an inherently resilient system, FENS offers a key capability in the event of network failure. By holding the data for a NE in its database, it ensures that the data can be restored exactly as it was before. Another benefit is that configurations can be set up prior to the NE cards being installed, ensuring that on insertion, they are pre-configured and ready for immediate operation.
