Managed Services
Fujitsu has extensive expertise in the technology and processes of network management. We offer comprehensive managed-service capabilities across multiple platforms, allowing both national operators and smaller independent providers to outsource all aspects of their requirements. These can range from personnel, planning and installation, maintenance and repair, to multi-level support for equipment and infrastructure, plus service activation and assurance, including spares management and break/fix.
The benefits of adopting a managed service strategy are wide-ranging – from realising considerable reductions in OpEx and CapEx, to improved time to market, and raised customer satisfaction. Above all, it enables a rapid deployment of the NGN infrastructure, with capability based on best-of-breed solutions rather than the lowest common denominator.
From an all-encompassing managed service to specific elements, our service can typically incorporate:
- The provision of a managed service capability for advanced services and network platforms across, for example, quattro play, private circuits, broadband, PSTN and backhaul
- The build, upgrade, operation and transition of new and legacy access networks to a future NGN
- For business CPE equipment projects, we can address diverse environments such as office buildings, remote facilities, MoD locations, and retail outlets, providing tailored 24/7 remotely managed support contracts across the whole communications infrastructure – from telephone handsets to the entire IPD and local/wide area network
- Management of key network operations personnel – from initial planning, through installation, commissioning, integration, maintenance and repair of exchange equipment and infrastructure, to provisioning, surveillance and monitoring from a dedicated Network Operations Centre (NOC)

Wholesale mobile
-
The conventional view of the mobile virtual network operator is out of date. Service providers that buy wholesale minutes at a discount price and sell no-frills telephony and text messaging to price-sensitive customers are finding it hard to survive.

Overcoming Separation Anxiety
-
Fujitsu's Graeme Wright argues business leaders must plan more effectively when engaging in divestment activity. Critically, he says, they must involve their CIOs from the very outset of discussions if they are to navigate the IT, cultural and strategic challenges of any separation successfully. He illustrates the benefits and opportunities this could bring, as well as warning of the potentially ruinous consequence of neglecting IT and people issues.
