Non geographic telephone numbers have a multitude of uses and you could consider using 0800, 0845, 0870, 0900 or 0990 telephone numbers for your business.
0800 numbers 0808 numbers are freefone / freephone telephone numbers and can be used to increase the number of sales calls that your business gets.
0845 and 0870 telephone numbers can be used if you don't want your customers to know where you are based i.e. if you don't want your STD dialing code displayed or you want to present your business as being nationwide then 0845 numbers and 0870 numbers can be a good choice for your telephone number or fax number.
They can also earn you limited amounts when you are called, approx 1ppm for 0845 and 4ppm for 0870* (note the potential to earn on 0870 no’s is likely to reduce to 1ppm in 2007 due to a recent OfCom ruling, unless a recorded message is played prior to the calling party being charged for the call, informing the caller of the charge for the call) .
Additionally 0990 telephone numbers and 0900 telephone numbers are premium rate numbers and can be used to generate cash / an extra income stream for your business. A premium rate telephone number will cost callers, say, 50p per min or £1 per minute to dial and a proportion of this paid to you.
Premium rate numbers are often used for support lines and so on. It is easy and often free to sign up for a new telephone number or to register a different telephone number. So do your research and decide which is best for you and then get a freephone telephone number 0800 0808 or a local rate telephone number 0845 or a national rate telephone no 0870 or a premium rate 0990 or 0900 numbers.
