Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe announces new CEO
Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe promotes Andy Stevenson to post of CEO.

Birmingham, 24th November 2005 — Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions, today announced the appointment of Andy Stevenson as Chief Executive Officer. He will take over from Shigeyuki Unagami, who returns to Japan after 7 years managing the Fujitsu Telecommunications business across Europe.
Andy Stevenson, who has been with the Company for 11 years, most recently as Chief Operating Officer, has played a leading role in guiding Fujitsu to its position as a major telecommunications products and services supplier. This appointment will further strengthen the Company's renewed thrust into European markets, and follows the recent announcement that Fujitsu has been selected as a preferred supplier to BT’s 21st Century Network programme.
Shigeyuki Unagami, outgoing CEO of Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe, said of his successor:
"During my seven-year tenure, I have witnessed a period of exciting growth in the access network, fuelled by the growing
demand for broadband-based services and the emergence of solutions for Next Generation Networks. Andy has been a major driving
force within the company. His appointment will bring an expertise and vision that will continue to strengthen Fujitsu's capability
in these markets and position our Company for continued future success."
Other Board Appointments:
In addition, Fujitsu is pleased to announce that non-executive Director, Simon Blagden MBE, will take up the position of Co-Chairman
vacated by Mike Armitage. Mike is stepping down, after 7 valuable years in the role. New CEO Andy Stevenson commented:
"I am looking forward to working with Simon Blagden, who brings vast international experience to the role – this is of particular
importance given the further expansion of our products and services across Europe. I would also like to thank Mike Armitage
for his invaluable contribution to our business during his period as Co-Chairman. Our company is well-positioned to address
the challenges of the European telecommunications market. We have an impressive armoury of technologies and solutions at
our disposal, for the benefit of all our customers."
To strengthen the links to the parent company, Andy will also be supported in his new role by Hayashi Suzuki from Japan, who
has been appointed Vice Chairman of Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd. Andy Stevenson commented:
"I am extremely pleased to welcome my colleague Hayashi Suzuki from Fujitsu Limited. Mr. Suzuki was instrumental in the
formation of company's products and technology in its early days. We have worked together remotely over the past 10 years,
which have seen us emerge as a significant player in the European market. Mr. Suzuki led the global SDH/SONET transmission
business for Fujitsu during this time and spent the last 3 years in our sister company as CTO of Fujitsu Network Communications
(FNC), based in Richardson, Texas. Under Mr. Suzuki’s tenure, in charge of optical transmission systems, he was instrumental
in leading the company to become one of the largest optical transport providers in the world. His experience will be a great
asset to us at this important time in the company’s development."
