Fujitsu Demonstrates Broadband Evolution at BWF Madrid

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe majors on broadband evolution and innovation, with dynamic live demonstrations, at the European Broadband World Forum in Madrid.

Birmingham, 3rd October 2005 — Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions, is majoring on broadband evolution as its central theme at this year’s European Broadband World Forum event (Stand no. 9017, Palacio Municipal de Congresos, Madrid, 3-6 October 2005). Fujitsu’s market-leading Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) technology – the GeoStream Access Gateway portfolio - provides operators with the optimum cost-effective technology on which to build 21st century networks, as part of Fujitsu’s fully integrated single-source strategy to provide broadband alongside voice services, on a common network infrastructure.

Selected as a preferred supplier for BT’s 21st Century Network, Fujitsu’s product strategy focuses on integrated solutions that aid seamless network evolution, bridging the technology divide between legacy and new access networks. The GeoStream Access Gateway portfolio provides a common platform for both fibre and copper terminations across a wide range of existing and next-generation services. Fujtsu’s award-winning MSAN technology incorporates the world’s most advanced DSL platform, with the modular, multi-service GeoStream Access Gateway Hub 1000 capable of supporting thousands of broadband users on a single ATM/Ethernet network interface. Fujitsu’s Hub 1000 delivers industry-leading operational flexibility and scalability, reflecting the company’s commitment to evolve fully managed, cost-effective network migration solutions.

Key components of Fujitsu’s GeoStream Access Gateway portfolio include the recently launched Integrated Voice Line Card Sub-System – GeoStream Access Gateway IV-LCSS – demonstrating Fujitsu’s NGN technology evolution. Each IV-LCSS supports up to 64 subscriber lines, and allows operators to provide conventional telephony services as well as broadband, via a common integrated platform installed at a local exchange. Ensuring a seamless migration from legacy voice platforms, Fujitsu’s GeoStream Access Gateway IV-LCSS offers full and field-proven compliance with H.248.

Demonstrating Broadband Applications

A range of compelling multi-service demonstrations on the Fujitsu stand include how VoIP services can be handled by Fujitsu’s MSAN, to deliver the optimum efficiency over a variety of carriers, with the MSAN technology also being employed to demonstrate video streaming from a VoD server. Video telephony is also being shown, while games consoles – communicating via the MSAN – are providing a dynamic demonstration of LAN gaming.

Active Conference Participation

Fujitsu is playing an active role in the Broadband World Forum conference programme. Andy Stevenson, COO of Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd, is participating in the Industry Focus session on “DSL Technology and Deployment Advances”, while Nigel Garnham, Director – Value Added Services, from Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe, is acting as chair for the session “Solutions and Strategies for Wireless Fixed Broadband Integration”.
