Fujitsu Wins Multi-Million BT Contract with Skanska

A partnership between Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe and Skanska Networks has been awarded a prestigious contract worth some 130 million GBP, to supply BT with UK-wide network upgrade services.

United Kingdom, 10th December 2004 — Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions, announces that a Skanska Fujitsu joint venture has been awarded a major contract by UK-based telecom operator BT. The equal-share partnership will be providing BT with build-out and network upgrade services during the contract, which has a total value of some 130 million GBP, with the project forming an integral part of BT's network upgrade programme. Within Fujitsu, the company's Network Support Services (NSS) division will be managing the contract, working in partnership with Skanska, while reinforcing its long-established role in supporting BT's network.

Mike Stewart, Business Director of Fujitsu Telecommunication Europe's NSS division, commented: "Fujitsu's Network Support Services division has assisted BT in maintaining, supporting and expanding its network over many years. Our role in supporting BT's infrastructure is wide-ranging - from broadband-enabling remote rural exchanges in the Scottish Highlands, to trench-laying long-distance fibre, and replacing long runs of telegraph poles in urban environments.
