Fujitsu triumphs at European Retail Solutions Awards
Fujitsu Services is celebrating success at this year’s European Retail Solutions Awards, which saw the company receive an impressive three awards in partnership with retail clients The Body Shop International, Staples Inc and Whitbread - TGI Friday’s.
Hilton Birmingham Metropole, 8th June 2006 — Fujitsu and The Body Shop were awarded the ‘Project implementation of the year’ for an EPoS upgrade project. Around 1,600 Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 units have been rolled out to over 700 Body Shop stores in seven countries. The retailer is already seeing a number of benefits from the new system.
The ‘EPoS initiative of the Year’ was awarded to Fujitsu and Staples for the implementation of GlobalSTORE in the retailers’ stores in Germany and Portugal. The team was challenged with balancing the need for a standardised EPoS system with a flexible architecture that could be tailored to meet the bespoke needs of each country market.
Finally, ‘The Best use of Technology in a hospitality sector’ was awarded to Whitbread - TGI Friday’s for its hand-held EPoS solution, which was designed and delivered in partnership with MICROS and Fujitsu. The system has significantly impacted on productivity and customer service at TGI Friday’s 47 UK restaurants.
Commenting on the awards, Bill Waterson, UK head of retail at Fujitsu, said “The success of these projects is testament to the close partnerships formed with our retail clients and it’s great that they have been recognised in this year’s European Retail Solutions Awards. In light of an increasingly competitive retail arena, it’s vital that technology delivers real business benefits to retailers and these projects are excellent examples.”
The awards, which celebrate outstanding achievements in retail technology and the teams behind them, are now a firm fixture in the retail technology calendar.
The sixth European Retail Solutions Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 6 June 2006 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
