Fujitsu’s Trio of CELSIUS Workstations Take Size-Performance Ratio and Security to a New Level

Fujitsu UK & Ireland

News facts:

  • The CELSIUS W570 microtower represents an innovative space-saving design without performance sacrifices
  • The industry’s most powerful small form factor CELSIUS J550/2 workstation packs a full-height graphics card into a 10-liter design
  • The 15-inch CELSIUS H770 mobile workstation frees users from their desks without compromising security
London, May 18, 2017

Fujitsu today introduces three innovative new workstations to its CELSIUS portfolio. Designed to deliver excellent performance, visualisation and customisation capabilities, the new CELSIUS models offer significant technology advances in terms of size-to-power ratio, plus additional security features. The latest additions comprise the industry’s only mobile workstation to offer highly secure biometric authentication in addition to the smallest high-performance 21-liter microtower and 10-liter small form factor workstations available today.

Workstations are the tool of choice for innovators, creators and visual pioneers. Boasting a far superior ability to handle complex visual tasks than standard desktop PCs or notebooks, their powerful visuals delivered by NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics cards, Intel Workstation Xeon processing power, expandability and reliability make them the first choice for engineers, architects and content creators from all industries, whether in the office, in a meeting or on-the-go.

Jon Peddie, President of Jon Peddie Research, says: “With a solid nine percent growth in 2016, and an annual growth rate of five percent for the past five years, the workstation market is thriving. Workstations like Fujitsu’s new CELSIUS series can have almost 70x the performance of those we used in 1995. The need for that kind of performance is primarily driven by the increasing use of 3D animation, digital content creation, multi-screen scenarios and advanced networking and graphics. We’re seeing a significant boost in performance to deliver these immersive experiences, alongside a reduction in size, and Fujitsu is a technology leader in the field.”

New highly-secure mobile workstation

The sleek 39.6 cm (15.6-inch) CELSIUS H770 mobile workstation represents the most secure mobile workstation available thanks to its biometric capability, delivered by Fujitsu’s unique PalmSecure™, non-intrusive and contactless authentication technology. It is powered by the latest generation of Intel’s E3-1500M v6 processor family and the latest NVIDIA® Quadro® graphics cards with up to 1024 CUDA cores and features a port replicator compatible with seven Fujitsu LIFEBOOK models, making it ideal for shared desk environments.

Having created waves with its arrival, the refreshed CELSIUS J550/2 is still the industry’s best performing small form factor workstation thanks to its support for full-height graphics cards up to the NVIDIA® Quadro® P2000. Despite its compact 10 liter size, it supports up to 11 monitors. Three of these screens are driven by the Intel® HD Graphics P530 on-board graphics card and an additional eight are powered by two NVIDIA® Quadro® P600 graphics cards. This capability makes it ideal for multi-monitor scenarios in control rooms, for surveillance and trading floors, in addition to traditional 2D and 3D use case scenarios.

A new standard in performance in a space saving design

Completing the trio of new arrivals is the CELSIUS W570 desktop workstation which sets a new standard in terms of performance in a space saving design. Nearly 30 percent smaller than its predecessor, it delivers the same impressive performance from a 21-liter microtower. The standard CELSIUS W570 model is designed to draw extremely low power (280W), while the W570power+ cable-free option offers great expandability and can be enhanced with up to three NVMe PCIe M.2 modules for super-fast read and write capabilities. Further innovations include cold-plug access which allows storage devices to be easily added, replaced or upgraded at the front of the device. Designed to be future-proof, it is ready to deliver a professional, fully immersive 3D, 90 frames per second virtual reality experience thanks to the NVIDIA® Quadro® P4000 professional graphic card.

Thomas Bretthauer, Director Global Product Management Workstations at Fujitsu, adds: “Companies, especially those using computer aided design and the architecture, engineering, and construction industries, are accelerating their adoption of 3D and virtual reality. Being able to visualise products and scenarios in this way enables them to improve planning and development cycles and to create immersive sales and marketing experiences in showrooms or at events. Fujitsu has brought more than 26 years’ experience in designing and engineering workstations to the creation of these latest CELSIUS workstations. The result is a high level of performance and reliability in a space-saving design for professionals at their workplace, in addition to a high level of security for those on the road.”
