Fujitsu UK & Ireland

News facts:

  • CELSIUS W570power+, with a 21 liter form factor, is the industry’s smallest, most powerful VR-ready desktop workstation
  • The CELSIUS H970 17-inch mobile workstation enables professionals to take VR on the road
  • New VR certified CELSIUS models are powered by the latest NVIDIA Pascal graphics technology
London, March 20, 2017

Enabling an unprecedented level of creativity and visualisation in the workplace, Fujitsu today introduces two new virtual reality-ready (VR) workstations powered by the latest NVIDIA professional graphics cards. Joining the Fujitsu line-up of VR-ready workstations are the CELSIUS W570power+, the industry’s smallest VR capable desktop workstation, and the CELSIUS H970 17-inch mobile workstation. Both are designed to provide designers, engineers and architects with another dimension to their work by ensuring they can seamlessly move 3D designs to virtual reality, either at their desk or offsite.

While currently the preserve of online gaming enthusiasts, virtual reality is predicted to grow rapidly over the next decade. According to predictions1, VR is on the cusp of mainstream adoption - emerging from use by "early adopters or enthusiasts" to be embraced by the "pragmatists", or early mass market. This growth can be attributed to the three dimensional immersive experience that virtual reality provides – and that can be applied to all industries, from architecture and engineering to education and healthcare.

A special edition of the CELSIUS W570 workstation, the W570power+, packs performance and functionality into an innovative microtower design. At 21 liters, it is nearly 30 percent smaller than its predecessor, yet still offers the same level of performance. The W570power+ features up to three NVMe PCIe M.2 modules, seven disk drives and the NVIDIA Quadro P4000 VR-ready graphics card. This makes it an ideal device for 2D/3D CAD and BIM applications. Paired with professional Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs), such as the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, users will enjoy an immersive VR experience with low latency at high frame rates.

For professionals such as architects, engineers or designers who spend time in the field, the 17-inch CELSIUS H970 mobile workstation brings design processes to life, allowing realistic image modeling and real-time alterations to plans. The CELSIUS H970 provides a large screen, plus full connectivity with two Thunderbolt 3, one full-sized DisplayPort and VGA. It delivers desktop-like performance thanks to the NVIDIA Quadro P5000 graphics card with up to 2048 CUDA cores. For easy serviceability, components are accessible via the service door conveniently located in its base.

Ruediger Landto, Head of the Client Computing Devices EMEIA at Fujitsu, says: "The combination of virtual reality combined with our powerful workstations opens up many exciting possibilities. While there is a trend in the market to sacrifice size versus performance, we still believe in the workstation DNA. This means no compromise in terms of performance, reliability, expandability, space-saving and VR capabilities. The revolution has just started. We recognize that VR can promote an holistic development process and enhance many stages of the value chain - from design, engineering, manufacturing, operations to maintenance."

Bob Pette, Vice President of Professional Visualization at NVIDIA, comments: "For businesses looking to adopt VR to improve product quality and accelerate workflows, Fujitsu and NVIDIA are making it easy. With the complete lineup of VR-Ready Fujitsu products, including the first 17-inch mobile workstation featuring Quadro P5000 and P4000 graphics, users can create and experience VR from anywhere."
