Fujitsu and Kent & Medway sign pathology contracts
Three Kent and Medway NHS Trusts have signed contracts totalling £5.5 million with Fujitsu Services to integrate PathNet with Cerner Millennium.
London, — Three Kent and Medway NHS Trusts have signed contracts totalling £5.5 million with Fujitsu Services to integrate PathNet with Cerner Millennium. (PathNet is part of the Millennium suite that delivers a completely integrated Pathology system hosted at the Fujitsu Southern Data Centre). Orders have been placed for:
- Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust
- East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust
- Medway NHS Trust
The system will create an integrated NHS Care Record System (single patient database) within Kent & Medway and will enable:
- Faster access to patient information
- Greater standardisation
- Improved sharing of patient information between hospitals, leading to greater support in diagnosis
- Heightened security of patient information
- Reduction in duplication of patient records
The PathNet system is being deployed as a single domain level solution and will support the Kent and Medway Pathology Network (KMPN) to achieve full integration between their Laboratories and the NHS Care Record System.
This PathNet deployment project has already begun and is due to be completed by mid 2008.
