EDE event: Consensus or compulsion? How can Government and business drive green business together?

20th May 2008.

The green pound represents an undeniable opportunity for business. Many commentators go further, claiming environmental responsibility is fast becoming a necessary factor for competitive survival. But, if business is to take a lead in reducing climate change, public sector legislation and investment must play a crucial role in nurturing an environment in which green business means good business.

Building on the success of last September’s Executive Discussion Evening on the importance of environmental policies, this event will discuss the critical role of the public-private sector relationship in driving green business. Drawing on first-hand insight from leading figures in both sectors, it will challenge the role of legislation, discuss how to best manage communication between the sectors, and reveal how Government and business can work together to encourage ethical business practice and sustainable return on green investment.
