Seeing Through the Fog of Cloud Services

CIOs need a way to make informed decisions on precisely how their business can best benefit from cloud services

By Andrew Brabban, CTO, Applications Division, Fujitsu

cloud-laptopThe continued confusion around key aspects of cloud services is holding many organisations back from embracing the new model. This is particularly frustrating for many, as IT organisations – like other business functions – are under intense pressure to identify approaches that will simultaneously lower costs and improve agility and productivity.

In this environment, CIOs are increasingly considering the utility benefits of the cloud as a way to fulfil the requirements of the business by purchasing IT as a service with minimal capital outlay. Unfortunately, the mixed messages they’re hearing on cloud from vendors, analysts and the media are causing many to hesitate, unsure where and when to take the plunge.

At Fujitsu, we believe what’s required is an adoption model that allows CIOs to assess accurately which of their applications would be most suitable for the cloud and which types of cloud services will benefit their organisation most.
