To implement, host and manage
one of the world’s largest Oracle e-Business Suite solutions
Department for Work and Pensions
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the government department responsible for welfare reform and employment issues. As such, it currently employs around 115,000 staff to deliver support and advice to people of working age, employers, disabled people, pensioners, families and children.
An extensive review of potential solutions led DWP to choose Oracle’s e-Business Suite - a fully integrated, comprehensive suite of business applications designed to provide better business information for effective decision-making and optimal responsiveness. It also subsequently chose to utilise Oracle Consulting to design and build the solution.
DWP then conducted a further competitive evaluation to select a service provider to test, implement, host and manage the Oracle system and awarded the contract to Fujitsu in October 2004. Dave Thomas explains, “Our selection criteria were fairly prescriptive, but it was clear that Fujitsu offered both the best match to our needs and the best value.”
