Playing an active part

We believe that the best businesses must seek not only to improve their performance, but to work with their competitors to improve the performance of the whole industry. To that end, we seek to learn from others and to spread best practice.

For example, we take a leadership role in the electronics and the environment arena: the head of our corporate environmental affairs department is the chairman of ICER (the UK Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling) and chairs Intellect’s environmental policy committee.

We are also a member of the May Day Network, which comprises a group of companies committed to taking action on climate change and is endorsed by the Carbon Trust – the government-funded private company that helps businesses and the public sector to cut carbon emissions. Our membership was a natural outgrowth of our longstanding relationship with another of the network’s endorsers, Business in the Community, with whom we have been actively involved for over 10 years and most recently in developing the May Day Journey.

We are also a member of the Green500 Organisation which is one of the London Development Agency initiatives.
