Emma - Resource Manager

Name: Emma
Job Title: Resource Manager
Business area: Solutions Group – Project and Programme Management
Location: Mobile
Studied: BA(Hons) Business Economics at Leicester University
Joined: September 1998
How would you describe your role?
A challenging and rewarding role. The role is a central role which requires communication at all levels and each phone call and email is something different. It may result in a simple solution or a more difficult challenge which may require lateral thinking to resolve it.
I am responsible for the Resource Team looking at fulfilling the demand for Project and Programme staff from our customers. This involves matching supply and demand on a daily tactical basis and working with our customers to look at the longer term forecast of requirements to ensure that we are in a position to meet our customer’s strategic needs.
What do you most enjoy about your current role?
The variety – each phone call and email is a different challenge and may require a different approach. Answering the phone to the unknown and being able to respond to it.
What makes you proud to work for Fujitsu Services?
I joined Fujitsu Services directly from University and I have successfully built a career without needing to move from organisation to organisation. The supportive and people focus of the managers mean that our teams are truly acknowledged as our most valuable asset with which to deliver our best service to our customers.
What other roles have you had within Fujitsu Services and how do they differ from your current role?
I have moved from being a frontline technical support role in the Customer Services helpdesk area, through Team Management roles and then into Resource Management. All have required strong communication skills, however have been much focused on a particular area of support. My current role means interacting with all areas and customers within our business and this gives a much wider view of the organisation and our capabilities.
What advice would you give to people looking to develop a career in your capability/business unit?
The Project & Programme Management capability unit is a highly supportive and structured unit in terms of supporting personal development. Take best advantage of the depth of experience available to learn and the variety of projects and programmes available to build on your skills in different business environments.
