Corporate responsibility within the community

Many of our people are active supporters of community initiatives at both local and regional levels. When possible, the company provides appropriate support through financial assistance, management action and other measures.

Employee volunteering
Our front-line volunteering efforts are co-ordinated through regional Impact on Society (IOS) Groups – all of our key locations in the UK have IOS representatives and people can find out more about these programmes through our online IOS community. Organised by our employees, the IOS groups are highly autonomous and manage allocated budgets from central funds, according to local needs.

Payroll and charitable giving
Our people have an impressive record of charitable giving through voluntary salary donations – they have even won an award for it – and the company has recently implemented an innovative new service that gives its UK-based employee-donors even greater choice.

Community investment
When we plan large-scale infrastructure developments, we are careful to consider the socioeconomic impact of new facilities within the local community. In Northern Ireland, we worked with the Northern Ireland Development Agency to establish new offices – and 400 new jobs – in Londonderry, an area that had seen little incoming investment in recent years.

Partnerships and employee development
We are a patron of the Prince’s Trust which directly supports disadvantaged young people. This is the first year of a four year investment, and our engagement with the trust spans many areas. We are also members of the Enterprise Education Trust, a business education and enterprise charity, which aims to prepare young people for life after education.
