Community
Fujitsu encourages the use of the technical and management skills of its employees to support local community and charitable activities. The company supports active participation in both company and locally initiated programmes, with particular focus on the areas of education, youth and health. Line managers are encouraged to support voluntary work and we provide funding and resources to support agreed initiatives.
We fund a number of regional ‘Impact on Society’ groups in the UK, through which we seek to facilitate initiatives taken by, or sponsored by Fujitsu people in support of worthy causes in our local communities. For example employees have taken part in Bike Rides, Race for Life, Sport Relief, the Great North Run, the London and New York marathons and Iron Man competitions in South Africa, as well as slept rough for Byte Night, raised money for Children in Need, as well as donated time, expertise and kits to local sports clubs.
We are patrons of the Prince’s Trust directly supporting disadvantaged young people and are an active member of Business in the Community (BiTC). We are involved in several programmes, which aim to increase both basic numeracy and literacy skills and IT skills in local primary schools in for example the Thames Valley, Northern Ireland, Glasgow and the Midlands in the UK and in South Africa. We also are involved in mentoring in secondary schools and have hosted career and interview technique clinics for older children. We aim to expand these types of volunteering opportunities throughout Europe.

As part of our approach in working with the public sector, we are committed to working with local communities to act as a change agent for community regeneration programmes for example our campus in Manchester, UK and our new centre in Derry, Northern Ireland.
Our People Engagement Survey elicits our employees’ views of the company and, determined by the total response rate, the Company makes a donation to global charities. In the UK and South Africa we offer payroll giving to enable employees to make tax-efficient donations to charities. Also in the UK we enable national insurance/tax-efficient donations through charitable giving with an additional contribution made by Fujitsu.
