Linux 將根據核心碼 (Kernel) 版本的不同而對 MO 機有不同程度的支援，本公司將提供下列資訊供各位參考，但是不提供技術支援，如須技術諮詢請洽各個 Linux 供應商 (CalderaOpenLink, ReadHat, SuSE)。如果使用者因設定不當而造成系統損毀本公司無須負任何責任。
- Kernel 2.0.3x 到 Kernel 2.1.31 (Kernel 2.1.x 為developer 版) 只支援SCSI介面的MO機使用512B/sector MO片(1) 1 。
- Kernel 2.1.32 到 Kernel 2.2.1 支援SCSI介面的MO機使用2KB/sector MO片(2) 。
- Kernel 2.2.2 或更新版本 同時支援ATAPI介面的MO機 ﹝設定 SCSI emulation support of kernel configuration to "yes"，此時ATAPI 介面的MO機將視為SCSI介面的MO機使用﹞
