Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd
Fujitsu's Slim, Ultra-portable, Versatile Computing Companion
Singapore, 21 May 2001 — Fujitsu, leading manufacturer of computer products, has launched the summer version of its versatile workhorse line,
the LifeBook S-4572 and S-4562. Both models are now running on Intel® Pentium® III 750 MHz and 700 MHz processors
respectively. They are also using low voltage technology, which translate to lower power consumption and cost savings.
The LifeBook S series has a modular option that endows the notebook with up to six different capabilities. This includes a
combo (DVD and CD-R/RW) drive, PC Card slot, second battery, SuperDisk and weight saver.
The LifeBook S-4572 is powered by an Intel® Pentium® III processor 750 MHz with SpeedStepTM technology. This model
also features a 128 MB SDRAM and a 30 GB hard disk. Meanwhile, the LifeBook S-4562 runs on a Intel® Pentium® III
processor 700 MHz supporting 20 GB of hard disk space.
The LifeBook S series both come with integrated LAN and modem functions, leaving the PC card slot free for additional connectivity
options such as the Fujitsu BluetoothT PC Card. The LifeBook also support the usual legacy ports and two USB.
The Fujitsu LifeBook S-4572 comes equipped with a 3-in-1 DVD-ROM/ CD-R/RW /CD-ROM drive. This means that users can backup
data or create personal CDs with the 8x/4x/32x CD-R/RW drive. Thereafter users will be able to view and/or listen to such
multimedia creations on the 12.1 inch XGA TFT colour display.
Despite the small size, Fujitsu has not compromised on user-friendliness and ergonomics of the LifeBook S series. The full-sized
keyboard and touch pad, with additional scroll button, ensure fast and accurate typing and navigation. Both notebooks feature
a security panel, which is located just above the keyboard. With more than 800,000 possible password combinations, a password
can be programmed into the notebook to prevent unauthorised usage. For easy access, the user simply needs to key in the correct
password to power up the notebook. Four of the same buttons are also programmable by the user for instant Internet connection
and email applications, as well as other user-preferred applications.
The S series maintains its light weight of 1.7 kg (with weight saver), and has a battery lifespan of approximately four hours*.
