Fujitsu Asia Launches First 6-Core Xeon Processor Server for ASEAN

Primery RX600S4

September 15 2008 — Singapore – Leading regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia today announced the Primergy RX600 S4 Linux and Windows rack server for the ASEAN markets.

Available immediately, the four-socket Primergy RX600 S4 breaks new ground as the world’s best-in-class performing server engineered using the new Xeon 7400 family of six-core processors (codenamed Dunnington), launched separately today.

In an official SPECint_rate2006 benchmarking test held last month, the Primergy RX600 S4 set a new record test result accessible of 277 for four-socket servers. The test score is 39 per cent higher than past results generated by servers from competing vendors using earlier Xeon processors – signifying vastly improved data throughput.

The SPECint_rate2006 test provides a comparative measure of computer-intensive performance across the widest practical range of hardware. It was developed by the US-based Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (www.spec.org).

“The fact that the Primergy RX600 S4 vastly outperformed earlier four-socket servers from competing vendors is testament to its superior design. Incorporating a six-core processor in a four-socket configuration provides up to 24 cores per server, offering immense scalability for end-users to ramp up their usage levels in future,” said Mr Motohiko Uno, Vice President, Platform Solutions Group, Fujitsu Asia.

Carolinas determined that the palm recognition technology’s accuracy and security features offered the best option for its patient network, Burke said. Because a computer algorithm immediately translates the image of palm veins into a number, the image cannot be stolen and reused, and patient privacy can be better safeguarded. In addition, database retrieval is faster because a number, not an image, is accessed, he said. Improved accuracy reduces that chance that patient records could be accidentally confused. Finally, patients place their hand a few inches above the device instead of actually touching it, eliminating the need for frequent cleanings and decreasing the potential for equipment damage.

The Primergy RX600 S4 server is built using components such as:

  • four six-core Xeon 7400 processors
  • up to 128 GB of random access memory
  • up to 1.2 TB of hard disk space
  • PRIMERGY ServerView Suite and iRMC S2, SV Local Service Display, for top manageability and serviceability

With a low active power consumption of only 1,150W, the Primergy RX600 S4 is an environmentally-friendly server that offers money, time, space and energy savings.

Designed for workload consolidation, the Primergy RX600 S4 is ideal for:

  • databases or data centres
  • virtualisation or e-commerce solutions
  • enterprise resource planning or customer relationship management modules

The Primergy RX600 S4 Linux and Windows rack server is available for the ASEAN (including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam) markets with immediate effect. Visit http://sg.fujitsu.com or call 6512-7555 for more details.
