Fujitsu (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Fujitsu Systems Business (Thailand) Ltd., and Fujitsu Limited are to mark the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne with the “Fujitsu We Care for the Earth” re-forestation initiative in which volunteers from the Fujitsu companies, students and local residents of Kuiburi District, Prachuabkirikhan, will come together to reforest 999 rai of land with some 160,000 new trees.

Commenting on the initiative, Hasegawa Tadashi, President of Fujitsu (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “This is a great year for Thailand as it celebrates the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne. This much-revered man is the longest reigning monarch in modern history and his Royal Projects have done so much over the past six decades to establish and promote sustainable development in the country, particularly in the area of agriculture. We feel our re-forestation project is a fitting tribute to His Majesty and very much in keeping with his goals for sustainable development. This is the fifth Fujitsu re-forestation project in Thailand. In the past we have planted trees in several areas including Petchaburi, Utaitani and Kampaeng Petch. To date we have re-planted over 1,825 rai and because this is such an auspicious year for Thailand and the institution of the monarchy, executives and staff at all Fujitsu businesses in Thailand, together with many other volunteers, have decided to plant a further 999 rai with 160,000 trees.”

Yoshioka Shoichiro, President, Fujitsu Systems Business (Thailand) added, “As the representative of Fujitsu Systems Business (Thailand) and all our employees, I am delighted that we have this wonderful opportunity to participate in this re-forestation project. Our executives and staff are eager to follow the fine example set by His Majesty the King’s Royal Projects. We are very pleased to be working together with Fujitsu (Thailand) and Fujitsu Japan to launch the latest phase of the “Fujitsu We Care for the Earth” initiative. Not only are we following in His Majesty’s footsteps, we are also living one of Fujitsu’s core policy values – the protection of the environment. In addition, the company plans to initiate future community-sharing schemes to benefit children and senior citizens.”

Yoshioka’s words were echoed by Yamaguchi Hideru, Vice President – Environment, Fujitsu Ltd., who said, “For many decades Fujitsu has considered sustainable business management as a key factor in promoting lasting positive economic, environmental and social impact. One of the most important ways of fulfilling Fujitsu’s corporate responsibilities is to continuously create value through our activities, products and services in a sustainable manner that will better society now and in the future.”

Fujitsu We Care For the Earth

Fujitsu’s We Care for the Earth campaign follows the “Fujitsu Way” core value on environmental policy. The firm believes that private sector companies have a big influence on not only global economies but also the environment. In recent years the destructive actions of private businesses and the negative environmental impact of those actions have drawn considerable attention. This is why today companies can be punished financially or even excluded from markets if they fail to meet environmental requirements, even when those requirements may not be legally binding. Under the We Care for the Earth campaign, Fujitsu businesses worldwide have initiated many environmental activities, not just in terms of re-forestation but also to benefit people, communities and society as a whole.

Fujitsu is proud to be launching the latest stage of its We Care for the Earth campaign in honour of His Majesty the King’s 60th Anniversary on the throne.
