Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers concentrated processor power to protect user investments

Thailand, 29 October 2003 — October 29, 2003 With the new Intel-based PRIMERGY RXI600, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is rounding off its high-end product portfolio and offering the market a complete product spectrum with a new 64-bit, 4-way rack server. Thanks to its 64-bit architecture which is fully compatibility with 32-bit hardware, the RXI600's Itanium2 platform offers an ideal basis for the future. The new server will be available throughout Europe in January 2004. Introductory prices in Germany will be in the region of €25,000 (excl. VAT).

The new Itanium2 processor architecture is a 64-bit platform increasingly supported by large independent software houses. The launch of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 64-bit edition and availability of the 64-bit version of Microsoft SQL Server will encourage greater penetration of Itanium2-based systems into the high-end server market. Together with large software solutions, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) applications that make widespread use of the Itanuim2 processor’s new performance features, complete 64-bit solution stacks for business critical computing scenarios can now be obtained.

The PRIMERGY RXI600 server is aimed primarily at the large account market segment, where it is designed to satisfy the typical requirements while offering room for future developments. It supports application environments such as databases, business intelligence and data warehousing. Positioned in the Intel high-end server market, this server ensures that applications can gain significant performance advantages from the 64-bit linear storage-addressing facilities. Another area where users stand to benefit greatly from these architectural features is in the back-end server segment with system architecture between storage subsystems and application server LANs. Reinforced by its familiar security and high-availability features, the PRIMERGY RXI600 rack server provides the ideal platform for these application scenarios.
