Warranty Information

Limited Warranty for Hard Drives

Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd (FAPL) provides a limited warranty on consumer Storage Product (excluding spare parts and consumables) distributed by FAPL or through FAPL's authorized distribution channels. FAPL warrants that the Storage Product, from the time of sale through the Limited Warranty period, will function properly under normal use, be free of defects in materials or workmanship, and will conform to the performance specifications applicable to the Product. All Fujitsu Storage Products are subject to the Warranty Exclusions described below. A Fujitsu Storage Product found to be malfunctioning, defective, or which does not conform to the product specifications, will be repaired or replaced with a new or refurbished product at FAPL's option and expense.

This Limited Warranty extends to FAPL's direct customers only and is not assignable or transferable. In most cases, that means the warranty is the responsibility of the person/company whom Purchasers bought the drive from and not directly with FAPL. For such non-direct customers, Purchasers are advised to seek warranty coverage through the purchasing source. Purchasers may be required to provide proof of purchase to demonstrate eligibility. The warranty period is defined by the contract between the supplier and the Purchaser, i.e. most PC's are sold with a 1 year warranty which also covers the drive. In this case, Purchaser should contact the PC supplier or manufacturer for warranty services.

This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, whether implied by statute or otherwise, and which are hereby excluded. Fujitsu shall not be liable for any loss of profits or incidental or consequential loss for whatever reason.

FAPL does not offer a data recovery service and can accept no responsibility for retention or security of data or information stored on magnetic or other media returned to Fujitsu for warranty claim. It is Fujitsu's normal practice to erase all magnetic storage media which is returned for warranty claim either under warranty or otherwise.

Warranty Periods of Hard Drives

All Enterprise products shipped from FAPL are provided with a 5 years limited warranty. Warranty begins on the date of shipment by FAPL to its direct customers.

All Mobile products shipped from FAPL are provided with a 3 years limited warranty. Warranty begins on the date of shipment by FAPL to its direct customers.

No item should be returned to FAPL until a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number has been issued by FAPL.

FAPL may in its sole discretion modify its Limited Warranty at any time and from time to time.

Warranty Exclusions

FAPL provides no warranty for products that exhibits physical damage or that falls under any of the following exclusions:

  • product package damaged
  • product damaged during installation or removal (such as broken connector, broken pins, broken seal or other components)
  • product damaged during user's installation, system integration, programming, reinstallation of user operating systems or applications software, systems engineering, relocation, reconstruction of data
  • product damaged by modification or repair not authorized by FAPL
  • product that has been the subject of abuse, unreasonable use, or mistreatment, accident, acts of God or transportation
  • product damaged by environmental conditions (such as corrosion, staining, excessive heat, unsuitable physical operating environment etc) not conforming to the instructions or product specifications of Fujitsu.
  • product that has been defaced (such as label alterations, serial number missing, serial number no longer discernible, serial number invalid)
  • product with warranty labels removed or destroyed
  • product damaged due to lack of ESD protection
  • product determined to be stolen or scrapped
  • failure to properly package and ship the product back to FAPL for warranty service in accordance with FAPL's then current Packaging and Shipping Guidelines
  • If the unit has been purchased from an auction, online or otherwise, product determined to be stolen, scrapped or otherwise removed from normal service.

FAPL provides no limited warranty for products originally purchased from countries other than those managed by FAPL. Purchasers of products from unauthorized or foreign distribution channels must seek warranty coverage, if any, through the purchasing source. FAPL provides no limited warranty for products that are purchased through OEM or otherwise as part of a third party manufacturer's product or system; purchasers of such products must seek warranty coverage, if any, through the purchasing source. FAPL may revise these exclusions from time to time.

Packaging and Shipping Guidelines

Purchaser must ship all warranty returns in careful compliance with these Packaging and Shipping Guidelines. Failure to do so will void the product's warranty. FAPL advises the purchaser to keep the original box and packing materials for storing or shipping. Purchaser must return only the Fujitsu Storage Product. Prior to shipment, the customer must remove and retain all "add-on" items, (i.e. adapters, brackets, cables, software, manuals, etc.). FAPL does not accept responsibility for these items and they will not be returned with the repaired or replacement Fujitsu Storage Product.

The preferred method is the use of foam inserts to enclose the disk drive completely on all surfaces (2-in. foam/surface). Each individual item must be placed in its own anti-static bag. When the original container is not available, a corrugated container with a minimum bursting rate of 200 PSI must be used. Ratings are generally located on the bottom of containers. If foam inserts are not available, do NOT use "peanut" packaging filler material, as this will not provide adequate support and stability to the drive during transit and will void the warranty.

FAPL is not responsible for product lost during shipment. All products being returned for Limited Warranty repair or replacement must be sent freight prepaid. Each box must reference the following information: Customer/Contact Name - Return Address - Phone Number - RMA Number (issued by an authorized FAPL source). The RMA number must be written on the outside of the shipping container for identification purposes. Shipments not properly identified will be refused. FAPL may revise these guidelines from time to time.

EXCEPT AS STATED ABOVE, FAPL MAKES NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO PRODUCTS SOLD OR DISTRIBUTED BY FAPL. FAPL DISCLAIMS ANY LIABILITY FOR INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOST DATA, LOST REVENUE, LOST PROFITS, OR REPLACEMENT PRODUCT COSTS ARISING OUT OF THE PURCHASE, USE, OR PERFORMANCE OF FAPL PRODUCTS, UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF FAPL HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES SO THIS LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. AFTER THE PERIOD OF LIMITED WARRANTY, FAPL DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY ARISING FROM A COURSE OF PERFORMANCE, DEALING, USAGE, OR TRADE PRACTICE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THIS LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES THE PURCHASER SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND THE PURCHASER MAY HAVE OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. THE PRICE OF PRODUCTS DISTRIBUTED BY FAPL REFLECTS THIS ALLOCATION OF RISK. FAPL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME AND WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE ANY OF ITS SERVICE PROGRAMS OR SERVICE METHODS.
