Fujitsu LifeBook E Series: The Most Powerful Notebook In Its Class Flagship in Technology With Latest Pentium® III 1.13GHz-M, And New Combo DVD/CD-R/RW Drive
Singapore, 31 July 2001 — Fujitsu is leading the pack with its most powerful notebook to date. The flagship model LifeBook E-6656 runs on Intel®
Pentium® III processor 1.13GHz-M, the fastest available within the mobile computing sector. To complement the performance
of this new processor, Fujitsu has included Intel®'s latest 830MP chipset. Fujitsu's power-management software has also
leveraged on the unique qualities of the new processor, thus providing an excellent battery runtime of up to 5.5 hours**.
This desktop replacement is configured with an Ultra DMA/100 hard disk, 256MB SDRAM (with the option of increasing to it to
1024MB) and a 133MHz front-side bus. Graphics are amply supported by 16MB of DDR RAM.
Built with the travelling executive in mind, the new Fujitsu LifeBook E-6656 is designed to ease the rigours of crunching,
storing and distributing information on the road. Through a modular design called the Device Bay, Fujitsu endows the LifeBook
E-6656 with the power and flexibility of a multimedia desktop and more. The modular bay allows more than eight options, from
a second battery to a 3-in-1 DVD-ROM / CD-R/RW / CD-ROM drive. Thanks to the CD-R/RW capability, mobile warriors can now conveniently
back up their data on the go or generate copies of their sales presentations. More importantly, the Device Bay allows the
notebook to maintain its sleek design and light weight of 2.7 kg.
Besides the emphasis on power and functionality, the LifeBook E-6656 also offers a secure system that corporate executives can rely on. Its unique Security Panel consists of five buttons located at the front. With more than 800,000 possible password combinations, this security feature can be programmed into the hardware to protect the notebook from unauthorised use. To power up the LifeBook, the user simply needs to key in the pre-programmed password. Four of the same buttons are also programmable by the user for hassle-free launch of their Internet and email applications as well as other user-preferred applications.
Fujitsu's emphasis on the notebook's ease of use is evident in the full-sized keyboard, built-in Internet modem and LAN. The
LifeBook E-6656, like all other Fujitsu notebooks, is endowed with a battery-bridging technology that allows executives to
swap batteries without having to shut down the notebook, thus ensuring that presentations can proceed with as little interruption
as possible.
The Super XGA + TFT LCD colour display also offers hitherto unparalleled clarity and brilliance. The ultra-high resolution
gives added comfort and pleasure when viewing DVDs and other forms of entertainment on the notebook. The LifeBook E-6656 runs
for approximately 3.5 hours* on the standard battery and up to 5.5 hours* with a second battery installed.
