Fujitsu Launch New DC/DC Converter for Portable Devices

Singapore, 30 October, 2006 — Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd (FMAL) today announced the release of a new synchronous rectification 2 channel DC/DC converter with current mode, PWM type and built-in voltage detection function. The new DC/DC converter (MB39C015) is designed for use in portable devices, DVD players and hard disk drivers.

The new DC/DC converter offers many functions such as built-in switching FET, oscillator, error amplifier, PWM type controller, and standard voltage and current detection. It has a power voltage that ranges from 2.5V to 5.5V, with a maximum output current of 800mA for every channel. The current mode monitors the output current and maintains it at maximum level. In addition, it has a 2MHz switching frequency that reduces the size of inductors and capacitors, provides smaller occupying space and low-cost solution as needed by many portable devices.

To raise the converting efficiency up to 96%, the new DC/DC converter has a built-in switch incorporated with RDS（ON）, that can be lowered to only 0.3Ω（P channel）and 0.2Ω（N channel）when operating at “ON Duty” mode. With a high performance/price ratio, the new DC/DC converter is suitable for use as power supply for mobile phones, PDA, DVD players, hard disks and IP phones.

It is available in two packaging options of SSOP20 and QFN24, and sealed in a fine and delicate BCC20 3.5mm X 3.5mm package. Deliveries of these three packages can be made off-the-shelf.
