Singapore, 17 November, 2005  — Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd (FMAL) today announced the release of its new controller LSI MB88387. This product, for the first time in the industry, carries the physical and link layers conforming to the IEEE1394b-2002 (*2) standard and copyright protection function conforming to the DTCP (*3) standard.

The new controller LSI MB88387 is compatible with IDB-1394 (*1), which has been promoted as a standard in-vehicle information system network.

IDB-1394 is presently drawing attention as an in-vehicle information system network that enables multiplex transmission of digital content such as DVD video and digital television without deterioration in vehicles, the same as at home.

Using the technical know-how of IEEE1394 (*4) controller LSI that Fujitsu has developed for consumer equipment, produced this product as the first of IDB-1394 controller LSIs. The controller LSI allows passengers in the rear seat of a car to freely watch quality digital video and listen to quality audio sound whenever they want. The product thus enables easy development of rear seat entertainment systems. (Figure)

To implement multiplex transmission of navigation video and camera video for environment monitoring, as well as further system cost reduction, Fujitsu will continue to develop IDB-1394-related products to enrich the product lineups.

Product features

  1. Support, for the first time in the industry, for the physical and link layers conforming to the IEEE1394b-2002 standard
