Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Limited
Singapore, 19 August 2003 — Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Limited (FHP) announced today that it developed the newest high-definition plasma display panels. (55inch, 42inch, 37inch, 32inch) 55inch-WXGA PDP is world's first size that utilizes its newly developed 'e-ALIS' technology, which features a progressive displaying and the highest brightness level of 1000cd/m2. A1 series (42inch, 37inch, 32inch-HD) realizes the highest brightness (42inch, 1100cd/m2) with its ALIS technology. All models realize a beautiful high-definition displaying with newly developed LSI, and achieve over 1000cd/m2 brightness.
FHP had introduced 42inch high-definition plasma display panel into the market in 1999 with ALIS technology, and added 37inch, 32inch in 2001 as a first generation. The newly developed series corresponds to the 3rd generation in the line-up of FHP products, and now FHP provides 4 models line-up by adding 55inch PDP.
55 inch PDP meets a recent expansion of super large size television market, especially for US market, of over 50inch products. FHP believes 55inch is the most suitable product in super large size television market, with making the most of PDP's feature such as self-luminescence and thin profile. By adoption of newly developed 'e-ALIS'technology, 55inch PDP has a great advantage against the other 50inch class PDPs. A1serires (42inch, 37inch, 32inch) realizes a highest brightness (42inch, 10% increase over former levels) with its ALIS technology, which will be a main stream of flat panel television market. Moreover, all those 4 models use 10bit signal processing and newly developed LSI for improving picture quality.
In light of the increased digitalization of household devices in the broadband age-as exemplified by such developments as digital broadcasts, DVDs, the Internet, and CATV-and anticipating that PDPs represent the next generation of wide-screen TV displays, FHP expects that the market size will increase to 1,400,000 units in 2003. In this situation, FHP has a plan to expand its production capacity from current 30k/month to 50k/month in next month, to 70k/month in spring 2004, and to 100k/month in early 2005. FHP continuously focuses on the television use, and holds the top share of world-wide PDP market.

In April 1999, Fujitsu Limited and Hitachi Limited established a joint venture, Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Limited (FHP), to develop, manufacture and market large screen plasma display panels. The two companies combined their individual operations into FHP to meet the rapidly growing demand for high-definition displays and digital televisions. The thin-profile, lightweight PDP module features space-saving installation, self luminescence and a wide viewing angle that lets it display moving images and high-definition still images with high levels of precision and detail
