Fujitsu Releases Resistive Touch Panel Line with 85% Transmissivity

Singapore, 20 May 2002 — Fujitsu Components Asia, Limited (FCAL) today introduced a new series of resistive-film touch panels with 85% transparency for LCD applications.

To achieve the 85% transparency rate for the new FID-554 series, Fujitsu developed a proprietary, anti-reflective coating that decreases light reflection from both glass and film to 15%, resulting in higher transmissivity, contrast and color clarity.

The 4-wire, FID-554 series touch panels are available in 0.7mm, 1.1mm and 1.8mm glass thicknesses, and have a 3H minimum surface hardness rating. They are offered as a semi-custom product in a variety of sizes, and are suitable for both pen and finger input. Applications include desktop, notebook, handheld, and pen-input PCs.

The touch panels are compatible with standard controller and device drivers. They have a minimum writing life of 100 thousand words, and an operating temperature of -30 to 70 degrees C.

Available immediately, the FID554 series is priced from $15 to $90 in OEM volumes. Lead time is 12 to 16 weeks.
