Keyboard Offers OEMS Low-profile Design and Improved Key Touch

Singapore, 14 January 2002 — Fujitsu Components Asia, Limited (FCAL) today released an ultra-low profile notebook keyboard matrix for OEMs that features a full-travel keystroke and improved key touch. Applications include kiosks, notebook PCs, instrumentation, and factory automation.
Although the new FKB7614 keyboard measures just 6.1mm high (0.240 in.), it offers a 3.0mm (0.118 in.) keystroke and 19mm (0.748 in.) key pitch for enhanced operation. Fujitsu incorporated its proprietary gear-link mechanism, resulting in 20g tactile response and soft key-touch feedback.
"Our goal with the FKB7614 was to design a keyboard that is comfortable and efficient to use, while meeting the design requirements of today's compact products," said Bruce DeVisser, FCAI's product marketing manager for input devices.
The FKB7614 features 87 keys (U.S.) in a 286mm (11.25 in.) wide x 110mm (4.33 in.) deep footprint that is suitable for various devices. It is available in a two-tone gray color scheme with laser engraved keycaps and Windows© functionality. A European 88-key layout is also offered.
Available immediately through distribution, the FKB7614 keyboard is priced at $25.00 each in single quantities.
