Singapore, February 2, 2006 — Leading regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd today announced that the high-end PRIMEPOWER™ 2500 server has achieved the best-ever score for the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC®(1)) Java Business Benchmark 2005 (SPECjbb®2005) .
The new world record of 1,157,619 business operations per second(2) was set using a PRIMEPOWER 2500 Solaris™ server running on 128 SPARC64™ V processors operating at 2.08GHz.
SPECjbb®2005 is a benchmark test developed by SPEC® to evaluate the performance of servers running Java-based applications. It simulates the processing of real-world business applications such as ordering, shipping, receipts, payment processing, inventory management and customer data management. Thus, the results can be used as an index of processing performance that reflects real-world business operations.
Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER servers have been highly praised for their performance and reliability by customers throughout the world. Additionally, Fujitsu is jointly developing the next generation of SPARC®-based Solaris™ server – codenamed Advanced Product Line or APL – with Sun Microsystems Inc., with product availability scheduled for the latter half of 2006.
