Fujitsu Asia to Sponsor Creative Efforts of Famed Local Animation Studio

Egg Story Creative Production to produce animation trailer using Fujitsu servers and workstations

Singapore, April 8, 2005 — Leading regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd (Fujitsu) today announced sponsorship of IT equipment for local animation house Egg Story Creative Production.

Helmed by Nickson Fong, a Singaporean animator who has been involved in numerous Hollywood movie blockbusters including Shrek, Starship Troopers, Godzilla, Stuart Little, Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions, Egg Story will use hundreds of CPU of Primergy servers and fifty workstations to produce the trailer of a new animated feature film tentatively known as Kung Fu Gecko.

Fujitsu’s sponsorship will provide Egg Story with sufficient IT resources to perform three-dimensional modelling, visual effects development, video compositing and other computing-intensive tasks throughout the trailer-production process.

Targeted for release around September 2005, the trailer will be showcased to potential investors to attract further funding to produce the full-length feature of Kung Fu Gecko.

Mr Fong, co-founder and chief executive officer of Egg Story, believes that support from IT vendors such as Fujitsu is vital for the growth of the local animation industry, as computer animation often requires high-end equipment that few local studios can afford.

Additionally, Fujitsu will install the IT equipment and provide on-site technical support at Egg Story’s premises. In return, Egg Story will promote the “Fujitsu” brand name with the trailer and allow Fujitsu to use the trailer in its marketing and promotional activities.
