Fujitsu Asia Launches its New USB Magneto-Optical Storage Drives

Combining portability, high capacity and performance with simple connectivity

Singapore, 7 January 2002 — Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd announces the launch of its new USB models to its line of high capacity magneto-optical (MO) storage drives. The new DynaMO 1300U1 and DynaMO 640U1 external storage drives offers the same ruggedness and reliability benefits with the highly popular USB 1.1 interface for simple connectivity.

Available in capacities of 1.3GB and 640MB, the new DynaMO 1300U1 and DynaMO 640U1 promises more portability with its new sleek and compact design. At just 630g, the new USB drives are 35 percent lighter and smaller than the previous models. The user-friendly USB interface makes it easy to install, and is often preferred for use with multimedia peripherals and other high-speed devices. As such, it is perfect for multimedia, CAD/CAM, desktop publishing, data back-up, educational usage and a variety of demanding applications.

The new USB drives achieve data transfer rates of up to 5.92MB/s using 1.3GB media and up to 3.9MB/s using conventional 640MB media. It offers strong random accessibility, fast rotational speed of up to 4,558rpm and an excellent seek time of 23ms. At the lowest cost per megabyte in the market today, it provides an extremely cost effective and superior alternative to other removable technologies.
