Environment Friendly

Philosophy

Philosophy

As a responsible global citizen, Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific (FPCA) recognizes the importance of environmental protection as a key business concern. The health of the natural environment and our role in making meaningful changes that reduce our carbon footprint are issues we take very seriously.

Values

Values

  • We strive to reduce the environmental impact of our products throughout the product lifecycle.
  • We encourage our employees to be environmentally-friendly within their business and social activities in their daily lives.
  • We strive to assist customers in reducing the environmental impact of their activities and to improve environmental efficiency overall.

We make every activity green

We make every activity green

Reducing the environmental impact of our products starts from the 1st stage of product design phase. Fujitsu began conducting product environmental assessments using 52 criteria for PCs in fiscal 1993 with the purpose of designing new products to prevent pollution and to lower the environmental burden. “Green products” are those with superior environmental performance characteristics. To earn this certification, products must score at least 90 points in a product environmental assessment and conform to all the relevant Green Product Evaluation Standards the company has adopted as global environmental measures. In addition, “Life Cycle Assessments” (LCA) are obligatory for all Fujitsu “Green products”. Quantitative environmental burdens are imposed by products and services throughout their life cycles. Here, the term life cycle comprises the entire flow from the extraction of natural resources, through the production of raw materials, the manufacturing, use of the product and eventually the scrapping and recycling. By using a proprietary database of LCA data for each product, Green products can then be evaluated efficiently.

Green Procurement

Green Procurement

The Green Procurement is a movement that aims to purchase components, materials, and products fabricated or manufactured with adequate consideration on the global environment. We promote the following during the procurement stage:

  • To procure products from suppliers that execute environmental assessment of products, including control of specified hazardous substances.
  • To procure from suppliers who have an environmental management system (i.e. ISO14001) to ensure continuous improvement of environmental activities.

Green Materials

Green Materials

To further reduce the environment impact during our product development phase, Fujitsu purchases components and materials that do not contain hazardous substances. To materialise this activity, we have a list of banned substances that we ensure are absent during product evaluation and Green Procurement. All of our PC products are also RoHS compliant from the year 2006 onwards, which means that the product’s system and its internal components comply with the EU RoHS directive (2002/95/EC) on the restricted use of six hazardous substances in the manufacture of the system and its internal components.

Fujitsu Virtual Product Simulator (FJVPS) is a powerful simulation software that is used with 3D CAD software and eco-design support tools. FJVPS enables us to perform:

  • Eco-friendly parts selection
  • Recyclability Enhancement
  • Disassembling Support

Green Products

Green Products

Fujitsu Green Products are created with a resource-saving design approach. We make effective use of limited resources by using recycled plastics and recycled magnesium alloy. Fujitsu Green Products that have met the standards of the International Energy STAR Program are able to reduce their power consumption during standby mode. When the power is turned on, a linked power socket for the display is also switched on at the same time. On the other hand, when the main power switch is turned off and the PC enters into the low power consumption “suspend” mode, AC power will no longer be supplied to the display. This provides superior low-energy performance with reduced cost savings.
