For its research activities, the İstanbul Bilgi University uses a high-performing and flexible PRIMERGY and ETERNUS infrastructure

"We are able to provide absolute mobility to our students and academics thanks to our technology partner Fujitsu."

Melike Beykoz, Director of IT, İstanbul Bilgi University

The customer

‘Non scholae, sed vitae discimus’ – ‘Learning not for school but for life’ is the motto of İstanbul Bilgi University. The university was founded in 1996 and is comprised of six faculties, five institutes, five professional and three vocational schools, which together constitute 25,000 students and 1,000 academics who take part in over 150 undergraduate, graduate and associate degree programs. The university is also the only member in Turkey of one of the world’s most advanced international education networks, Laureate International Universities.

The challenge

İstanbul Bilgi University wanted to upgrade its existing Fujitsu IT environment and replace it with a more powerful, agile platform that would enable research to be completed more quickly.

The solution

The university worked with Fujitsu to deploy a combination of Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers and Fujitsu ETERNUS storage for a flexible, high-performing and cost-effective computing infrastructure.

The benefit

  • Institutions, academics and students in need of powerful resources for research and development projects can manage their own servers
  • Applications no longer need to be installed on each individual server, saving time
  • The system enables many users to access the same source at the same time, while virtual servers can be created in an instant when needed
  • Complex research projects can be completed without any lag or system failure
