Fujitsu Names Michael Shih Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for its Asia Pacific Electronic Devices Group Business

Singapore, 25th September, 2006 — Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd today named Michael Shih as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fujitsu Electronic Devices Group Asia (EDGA). EDGA business comprises two important markets, Great China and South Asia regions. Its main business activities comprises of providing integrated business solutions and R&D support to custom LSI, standard LSI and system LSI products.

Such nomination of top level management was decided by Fujitsu’s board of directors with careful deliberation,” said Mr Shigeru Fujii, Senior Vice President of Fujitsu Limited and President of Electronic Devices Business unit. “Michael is the ideal candidate for the position as he has outstanding business experience and profound knowledge in R&D, manufacturing and operations of semiconductor business in Asia. We are confident that EDGA, under the leadership of Michael and a localised management model, will continue to make success in the Chinese market, and simultaneously explore into more new business opportunities across Asia Pacific regions.”

Michael started his career with Fujitsu when he joined the electronic design department in Tokyo headquarters in 1993, and has since spanned a 13-year career moving steadfastly into key positions in Engineering and Marketing divisions of Fujitsu Microelectronics Pacific Asia (FMP). His previous appointments include the roles of General Manager for Fujitsu Microelectronics Taiwan, Chief Director of Sales, Vice President of Sales & Marketing and President of FMP.

Michael, through his various roles and reponsibilities, made significant contribution to the growth of EDGA’s business in every important market across Asia Pacific regions. In recent years, Michael has pioneered EDGA to plow deeply in the Chinese market and has successfully strengthened Fujitsu’s technological research, development and support in China. Hence, Fujitsu is gradually consolidating its leading position in the semiconductor industry.

Appointed of his new role at age of 40, this position is the highest a non-Japanese has ever held in Fujitsu’s Electronic Devices Group. The nomination demonstrated Fujitsu’s effort to practice “New IDM Partner Strategy” in China and Asia Pacific regions. It signifies the importance of China and Asia Pacific regions in Fujitsu Group’s business as well as its confidence in local managerial talents.
