Release of New 32-Bit Microcontrollers for High-Performance Home Electronics
Powerful A/D Converter and Meticulous Control for Multifunction Features and Energy Saving
Singapore, 4 April, 2006 — Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd (FMAL) today announced the addition of new MB91470 series 32-bit microcontrollers to its FR family(1), developed principally for high-performance home electronics. Fujitsu plans to accept customer engagements on the microcontrollers in June 2006.
The new MB91470 series provide a more meticulous control on white goods, to exhibit more extensive multifunction features and better performance to ensure that these goods will consume less energy and produce less noise. Hence, the first product MB91F479 of this series includes functions used to ensure smooth operation by sensing the slightest changes from various sensors via a high-performance A/D converter(2) covering twenty channels, the greatest number of channels in the industry.
Home electronics nowadays are required to perform a large number of functions that rely extensively on sensor information. As such, the new MB91F479 is just right to support the high-performance white goods in providing multifunction features that run quietly and consume less energy. To illustrate, MB91F479 can be used by microwave ovens that need to provide multiple temperature monitors and steam cooking function, with meticulous temperature control capability. Likewise, it can also be used by air-conditioners that can monitor air contamination and humidity level, while running quietly and smoothly.
APPENDIX I
[Features Description of MB91470 Series 32-bit Microcontrollers]
- A/D converter covering 20 channels, the greatest number in the industry, is included to provide multifunction features and high performance. The microcontroller includes an A/D converter covering 20 channels, the greatest number in the industry, to receive information from up to 20 sensors. Control based on extensive information from various sensors helps achieve multifunction features and high performance, as required on microwave ovens with steam cooking functions and air-conditioners with multiple temperature monitors.
- 12-bit A/D converter with PWM control(3) ensures energy saving and quietness. An A/D converter with the highest resolution in the industry, 12 bits, helps sense the slightest changes. In combination with PWM control, this A/D converter provides smooth, meticulous control to reduce power consumption and achieve quietness due to smooth drive.
- 32-bit CPU core FR60 ensures high-speed processing. The microcomputer includes the FR60(4), which operates at the frequency of 80 MHz, the fastest in the industry, to ensure that a large amount of information can be processed at high speed on a real time basis. In addition, a product sum operation circuit(5) is provided specially for control calculation. It helps reduce loads on the CPU because it performs high-speed processing independent of the CPU.
