Tokyo, October 18, 2002 – Fujitsu Limited and Amkor Technology, Inc. have ended discussions relating to making Kyushu Fujitsu Electronics Ltd., Fujitsu's wholly owned semiconductor assembly and test operation located in Kagoshima, Japan, a joint venture. Fujitsu and Amkor had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding in April 2002 aiming for the joint venture to commence operations in the second quarter of this fiscal year, and they were in negotiations on a definitive agreement.

Tokyo, September 19, 2002 – Fujitsu Limited today introduced two new 32-bit RISC microcontrollers that are designed to run digital home appliances, such as audio equipment, digital televisions and DVD players. Jointly developed with Fujitsu VLSI Limited, the two new additions to Fujitsu's MB91350 (MB91F353 and MB91F355) series, the operating frequency at speeds up to 50 MHz, bringing a new level of performance to microcontrollers. Singapore, May 24, 2002 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia Pte Ltd (FMAL) today announced the introduction of its new 8-bit microcontroller, the MB89F538L, which includes 48 Kbytes of flash memory and comes in a compact 0.8 mm-high BCC-64 package with a 9 x 9 mm footprint. Developed jointly with Kyushu Fujitsu Electronics Ltd., the new product is ideal for use as a sub-controller in digital appliances, such as digital cameras and DVD recorders.
