Manila, January 07, 2010 — Manila, January 7, 2010 – Members of Fujitsu Family Association (FFA), the user group of Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. (FPI), together with FPI employees, recently participated in Bantay Kalikasan’s Nursery Planting program at the La Mesa Ecopark, the only urban forest remaining in Metro Manila. The participants gathered together to support environmental protection, especially after the fierce storm Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) swept the metro brought about by what they say was “climate change”. FFA Chairman Ma. Teresa “Tisha” L. Cruz spearheaded this program together with Peter G. Tan, President and CEO of FPI Group of Companies.
FFA consists of various corporations from various industries worldwide. It was established internationally in 2004 with several objectives like helping members from different countries and industries strengthen and expand their network by providing opportunities for information exchange. “Initially, FFA was formed to give Fujitsu users first-hand information about Fujitsu’s technological plans and product roadmaps but starting last year, FFA decided to make a difference by giving back what is due to the community and the environment or what I would like to call ‘IT with a sense of responsibility,” according to Raul Santiago, III, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Fujitsu Philippines, Inc.
Peter Tan says of FPI and FFA, “We are committed to environmental protection not only through corporate contributions through the Fujitsu Family Association, but also by volunteering our time, resources and energy. We actively support and encourage not only employee volunteerism but the involvement of our customers as well through volunteer activities. Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. Group of Companies (FPIGC) is willing to help transform our community as a whole.”.
FPIGC President and CEO Peter G. Tan actively participates in the tree planting activity.
“Fujitsu regards environmental protection as one of our important priorities. We don’t only do this through greening our products but also through supporting environmental causes like this. Let us all remember that the seeds that will be planted and that will eventually grow will make a difference in our environment and the future generations just because of the choice we’ve all made to be here today. Thank you for making that difference!” Mr. Tan said in his speech to the participants.
FFA members, mostly from Globe Telecom, enthusiastically supportedFFA’s cause to help the save the environment.

FPIGC President and CEO Peter G. Tan learns the step-by-step process in planting trees.
To quote some lines from American Poet, Lucy Larcom’s poem, “Plant a Tree”, which FFA Chairman Tisha Cruz shared:
“He who plants a tree,
Plants a hope.
He who plants a tree,
Plants a joy.
He who plants a tree,
He plants peace.
He who plants a tree,
He plants love.
Plant! Life does the rest!
Heaven and earth help him who plants a tree,
And his work its own reward shall be.”
Bantay Kalikasan (Nature Watch), AFI’s environmental arm, started on July 21, 1998. It is a media-based project supported by a multi-sector network of government agencies, private institutions, and non-government organizations.
