Manila, March 4, 2009 — Fujitsu Family Association (FFA), a user community of Fujitsu corporate users, recently held its 4th Annual Convention and Cocktails with the theme “Cost or Investment? Green IT and Business Continuity 2009.”

Cisco, Symantec, NetApp, and Blue Coat (through its local distributor, Computer Links) partnered with Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. and FFA to hold this free event exclusively for the Fujitsu user community. Each of the partners addressed the question, “Cost or Investment?” by showcasing their respective solutions to prove that Green IT and Business Continuity are actually good investments.
Mr. Noboru Oi, Regional CEO of Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd (FAPL) discussed “Further Utilization of ICT and Challenge to Environmental Issues.” According to Oi, “Fujitsu is willing to contribute to the protection of customers and society as a whole. Moreover to the protection of global environment through using Fujitsu’s own experiences and delivering various innovations.”
Japan-America Institute of Management Science (JAIMS) and Fujitsu Asia Pacific Scholarship Program (FAPSP) spokesperson, Yuki Hagihara, Senior Vice President, Global Business Unit of Fujitsu Limited discussed Fujitsu’s education and international exchange program as a social responsibility. JAIMS is a non-profit postgraduate institution, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, is founded by Fujitsu in 1972 for the purpose of fostering effective business leaders through education and training in global management and intercultural communication, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. While the Fujitsu Asia Pacific Scholarship (Fujitsu Scholarship) Program, sponsored by Fujitsu, provides financial assistance for full tuition, medical insurance, airfare, and monthly stipend for living expenses to participants from the Asia-Pacific region, including the Philippines.
The highlight of the event was the turnover ceremony of the FFA Chairmanship position. Outgoing FFA Chairman, Floro “Jun” P. San Juan, Vice President of The Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company (PhilamLife) turned over his position to Ma. Teresa “Tisha” L. Cruz, Vice President of the Information Services Division, Insular Life Assurance Co., Ltd. She is the first woman to hold the FFA Chairperson position since FFA formally began in the country last March 2006. The FFA in ASEAN currently operates in Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Slim, portable, and lightweight Fujitsu HandyDrive external hard disk drives were given away as raffle prizes, among other special prizes from the partners. The grand prize was the very fashionable and sleek Fujitsu L1010.
This annual event was held last March 4, 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel.
