Fujitsu Unveils New ETERNUS Tape Libraries for ASEAN
High-capacity storage archival options for SMBs and large enterprises
Manila, July 26, 2007 — Leading IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. today announced three new ETERNUS rackmount tape libraries for the ASEAN markets.
Designed for mission-critical Unix or Intel Architecture (IA) servers, the ETERNUS LT210, ETERNUS LT220 and ETERNUS LT250 tape libraries address the storage archival needs of customers ranging from small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to large enterprises.
All three new tape libraries are compatible with numerous operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES and IBM-AIX. The ETERNUS LT250 runs on the HP-UX and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server operating systems as well.
In addition, all three new tape libraries support major third-party backup software including NetBackup, NetWorker, NetVault and ARCserve.
ETERNUS LT210
Aimed at SMBs, the ETERNUS LT210 is an entry-level tape library that provides up to 1.6 terabytes (TB) of storage capacity for customers with modest archival needs.
The product supports up to eight tape cartridges in a 2U rack space, as well as one Ultrium2 low-density Linear Tape Open (LTO) drive. It also incorporates an Ultra160 Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) connection.
ETERNUS LT220
The ETERNUS LT220 is a small-footprint 2U tape library ideal for medium-sized businesses with sizeable archival needs despite physical space constraints.
Built with a SCSI host interface, the device accommodates a maximum of 16 tape cartridges and one Ultrium3 high-density LTO drive, for up to 6.4 TB of storage capacity.
The Ultrium3 LTO drive used in the ETERNUS LT220 incorporates Write Once Read Many (WORM) technology that prevents archived files from being modified, for enhanced data security.
ETERNUS LT250
Supporting a maximum of 91 tape cartridges and six Ultrium3 tape drives, the ETERNUS LT250 18U tape library offers large enterprises up to 36.4TB of storage capacity.
Tape drive clusters within the system can be divided into two virtual libraries, which can then be accessed separately by two different servers within a heterogeneous environment, for flexible management.
The Eternus LT250 has been engineered with redundant fans and power supplies as well as hot-swappable components, for enhanced reliability. It also supports a fibre channel connection in addition to the standard SCSI host interface.
The WORM-enabled Ultrium3 LTO drive provides greater data security, while local and remote graphical user interfaces allow for easy device management.
Pricing and availability
The ETERNUS LT210, ETERNUS LT220 and ETERNUS LT250 are priced starting at US$6,000, US$8,000 and US$25,700 respectively. All three new tape libraries are available for the ASEAN (including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam) markets with immediate effect.
