ETERNUS8000 and ETERNUS4000 win Japanese Brand Award

Manila, February 05, 2007 — Fujitsu’s enterprise disk array system ETERNUS8000 and midrange disk array system ETERNUS4000 have received the “Japanese Brand Award” prize in the 49th Nikkan Kogyo Newspaper’s ‘best new ten products in 2006,’ as announced in the Nikkan Kogyo Newspaper on January 4, 2007.

This annual award is presented to ten or more products commercialized by Japanese companies during the year that deliver excellence in reliability and high precision using state of the art technologies. In 2006, 89 entries were selected from 82 companies covering electrical machinery, electronics, information processing, precision machinery, automobiles, and metal working industry products.

The Japanese Brand Award is the second highest prize following the “Masuda Award” in the “Best Ten New Products” category. It is presented to highly competitive products that freely utilize original and unique technologies.

Fujitsu ETERNUS8000 and ETERNUS4000 are highly reliable and high performance disk array systems. They can be connected to a wide range of open platform servers, as well as Fujitsu’s own PRIMEQUEST, PRIMEPOWER, PRIMERGY, and GS21 systems. Boasting the world’s largest scalability with over 1.36 petabytes (one petabyte is equivalent to one million gigabytes) of storage capacity, they deliver I/O throughput that ensures business continuity. In addition the RAID6 (double parity) protection feature secures and recovers data, even if two disk drives fail simultaneously. Enhanced information security is provided by a range of backup, data integrity and data encryption features that secure business data and prevent information theft.

Since the start of worldwide sales in April 2006, these products have been widely accepted as the disk array systems for mission critical and departmental server systems.
