Fujitsu Document Imaging Scanners Debut in the Philippines
Market-leading products poised to give document imaging industry a big boost
Manila, Philippines, July 05, 2006 — Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. today announced the launch of a full line of document imaging scanners with features that cater to the wide-ranging needs of small- and home-offices, departmental workgroups, and big organizations. As more and more organizations turn to document imaging to capture, store, preserve and deliver information and streamline their operations, the appearance of Fujitsu scanners in the Philippine market is a welcome and timely development.
“The availability of Fujitsu scanners bodes well for the document imaging industry in the Philippines,” said Peter G. Tan, President and CEO of Fujitsu Philippines, Inc., a leading ICT system integrator. “Fujitsu now offers the most comprehensive range of document scanners available in the market. With our strong emphasis on product quality, reliability, and ease of use, Fujitsu scanners will produce the best scan possible with little or no human intervention, resulting in optimum productivity,” he added.
Mr. Shinichi Sato, General Manager of PFU Limited, the Fujitsu company that manufactures the scanners, emphasized that Fujitsu today is the market leader in the fast-growing workgroup scanner market. "This proves that our rigorous research and development efforts have produced products that promote ease of use and simple maintenance while offering very high scanning speeds and reliable operation," he said.
“Fujitsu’s technology helps e-government, business continuity, and the increased availability of information through electronic networks easier to achieve. Organizations who are planning or implementing projects in these areas will get a big boost by taking advantage of the capabilities of our document imaging solutions,” said Pamela Doyle, Director of the Imaging Products Group of Fujitsu Computer Products of America.
Among the products launched by Fujitsu is the compact, award-winning S500 ScanSnap, an entry-level desktop scanner that scans both sides of a sheet at up to 18 sheets per minute. Despite its very small footprint, it can handle documents as small as a business card and as big as A3-sized brochures. The software bundled with the S500 ScanSnap creates PDF Files with just one touch of a button, and is able to capture business card information in seven languages.
The model fi-5120c scans up to 25 sheets per minute, with a straight paper path that allows embossed cards and documents to be scanned effortlessly. In addition, the fi-5120c is capable of scanning pages that are up to 32 inches (81.2 cm.) long.
Moving further up the feature ladder, the fi-5750c scans up to 55 pages per minute. With a design emphasis on ease of use, it features the world’s first Automatic Document Feeder that can be rotated a full 180 degrees and can be positioned at the left, center or right for maximum flexibility.
At the top of the heap is the fi-5900c, which scans up to 100 sheets per minute. Featuring a 500-sheet Automatic Document Feeder, the fi-5900c is high-volume production scanner with a duty cycle of up to 100,000 sheets per day.
Other models that cater to special needs are also available. One such model, the fi-60f, is designed to quickly scan and digitize business cards and ID’s at reception counters in banks, hotels and other point-of-transaction locations for identity verification purposes.
Fujitsu scanners have captured the leading market position as a result of steady technological advances and meticulous attention to user requirements. Several key features set the Fujitsu scanners apart from other brands. For instance, all Fujitsu scanners are equipped with the latest charge coupled device (CCD) technology for vibrant color reproduction and crystal clear images, even when the documents being scanned are not lying perfectly flat against the scanning unit.
The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) saves users from the tedious task of manually feeding documents into the scanner and allows the scanning of large volumes of documents at high speed for increased productivity.
The vast majority of Fujitsu scanners are equipped with ultrasonic multi-feed sensors that automatically detect the feeding of more than one document into the scanning unit, thus ensuring that no document in a batch will be accidentally left unscanned.
“Mixed batch scanning” makes it possible to digitize various types of documents (such as paper printouts, transparencies and photographs) in a single stack without the need to rearrange items according to sizes, textures or thicknesses, for added convenience.
From thin tracing paper to thick cardboard, the Fujitsu scanners offer outstanding paper handling ability by allowing the paper to travel in a nearly straight feeding route when using the Automatic Document Feeder. This results in a shorter paper path that eliminates paper jams. Users can feel assured that their valuable documents will not become curled or wrinkled by the same type of paper jams that occur in scanners made by other makers.
To save valuable time and enhance efficiency, Fujitsu scanners are equipped with dual-system independent CCD sensors and internal processing circuits that are capable of capturing both sides of a document simultaneously as it is fed through the scanner. With this feature, users will not have to worry about document order displacement when scanning large volumes of double-sided pages.
Moreover, Fujitsu scanners are designed with low maintenance and durability in mind. The pick roller & pad assembly are the
only consumables (except for production models), and these can be easily removed for replacement or cleaning.
