Manila, May 22, 2006 — Fujitsu ICT system users in the Philippines have formed an organization called the Fujitsu Family Association (or FFA), holding their first annual conference and cocktail party at the Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Makati City Hotel Manila on March 23, 2006, with Mr. Johnny C. Sy, Vice President for Information Technology at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Network, as its first Chairman in the Philippines.
CXO-level executives from around 40 companies and government institutions were present at the event. Also present were executives from Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. and its regional and global headquarters in Singapore and Japan, respectively.
"The FFA was formed out of the desire for information sharing among Fujitsu ICT users" said Norikazu Karasuda, President and CEO of Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd. "At the same time, Fujitsu would like to get feedback from its customers concerning its performance as their IT system supplier and partner. The FFA will have a big influence on the products and services roadmap of Fujitsu. We are very happy with this mutually beneficial development and will support the FFA all the way", he added.
During the conference, Peter G Tan, President and CEO of Fujitsu Philippines, informed the audience that the Fujitsu Family Association in ASEAN started in 2004 in Singapore. Since then, it has expanded to six ASEAN countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. "The regional scope of this association provides a venue for the Fujitsu user community to discuss issues that transcend national borders, while also giving them many opportunities to expand their own network," he said.
"We congratulate Mr. Johnny Sy for taking up the challenge of setting up and guiding the FFA through its beginning stages in the Philippines," said Raul M. Santiago III, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. He added, "Plans are already afoot to hold regional and local seminars on the latest technological and business trends, as well as social events. Focus groups will be organized by members who are interested in specific issues, such as the optimization of I.T. spending, network infrastructure management, and information security."
In accepting the FFA chairmanship, Johnny Sy said, "It is an honor to be selected as the first Chairman of the Fujitsu Family Association in the Philippines. The establishment of the FFA is indeed a positive development for Fujitsu customers, as it offers opportunities for dialogue and mutual learning experiences. In behalf of the Fujitsu user community, I would like to thank Fujitsu for its commitment to understand our needs and requirements, and ask our fellow FFA members for their support in moving this organization forward."
