Fujitsu Ten Expands its Factory

Leading Automotive Electronics Exporter Increases Plant Capacity by 40%

Sta.Rosa, Laguna, April 5, 2006 — Fujitsu Ten Corporation of the Philippines (FTCP), a world leader in car audio and automotive electronics systems, reached a major milestone in its 15-year history in the country with the inauguration of its bigger, safer and more efficient factory on March 17, 2006. Present during the inauguration ceremony at FTCP’s plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna were the Honorable Lilia B. de Lima, Director General of Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA), the Honorable Joey Catindig, Mayor of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, the Honorable Arlene Arcillas, Vice Mayor of Sta. Rosa, Mr. Masanori Hanaoka, Chairman of Fujitsu Ten Limited, Mr. Takao Akatsuka, Managing Director of Fujitsu Ten Limited, Mr. Masahiko Enoki, President of Fujitsu Ten Corporation Philippines, along with FTCP employees and other guests.

Mr. Masahiko Enoki, President of FTCP, cited two major reasons for the expansion: “The first is to meet our mid-term target of increasing our production output by 40% by 2009. The second is to improve safety and efficiency in accordance with the standards established by Fujitsu Ten Limited for all of its manufacturing facilities,” he said. “This is in line with our relentless drive to improve all aspects of our operation and to maintain our status as one of the best suppliers in the industry,” he stressed.

“The expansion project resulted in an increase in over-all factory floor area by 32%, from around 11,000 square meters to 14,500 square meters,” said Ronald Teves, Manager of the General Affairs Section of FTCP. “We also improved the overall layout of the various functional areas of the factory to ensure a more efficient flow of materials, from receiving and storage to assembly, testing, packaging and, finally, shipment. Safety improvements were achieved by refining production and warehouse layouts, establishing wider passageways, avoiding dead-ends and adding more emergency exits,” he added.

FTCP produces high-quality automotive audio and electronic control systems for export and domestic markets. It is a subsidiary of Fujitsu Ten Limited, which is an investment of Fujitsu Limited. FTCP’s customers include Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Nissan & Ford, generating around US$200 million in annual revenue.

FTCP’s focus on continuous improvement has earned it many accolades from its customers, including the Excellent Cost Performance award from 2002 to 2005 and Superior Delivery Performance Award and Outstanding Export Performance Award for 2005 by Toyota Motors Philippines, the Top Vendor Awardee of Star Motors from 2000 to 2003, the Supplier Excellence Award by Ford Motor in 2006, and the Ten Outstanding Parts Suppliers Award from 2002 to 2003 by Mitsubishi.

As one of the very first companies to put up a factory in Laguna Technopark, FTCP has earned its ISO 9002, QS 9000, ISO 14001, and TS16949 certifications as part of its commitment for continual improvement both in terms of product quality and in terms of environmental protection.
