Fujitsu Philippines, Inc.
Manila, February 3, 2006 — A group of Japanese delegates led by Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. Chairman, Mr. Shigeo Tsubotani, visited the province of Camarines Sur on January 27 and 28, 2006 to investigate the possibility for ICT-related investments from Japan into that region. The group comprises representatives of the Japan Embassy, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines, Inc. (JCCIPI), consultants and members of the press stationed in Manila. Camarines Sur is located near the southern tip of Luzon – approximately 40 minutes from Manila by air.
Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymundo Villafuerte, Jr. welcomed Mr. Tsubotani – who heads the Design & Software Division of JCCIPI – and the other delegates. Gov. Villafuerte, a young and energetic gentleman, has adopted a policy to develop information and communication technology and tourism in his province. His efforts have resulted in the establishment of a Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) zone for help desks and call centers and the ongoing development of human resources for various industries who can speak not only English, but Japanese as well.
The Japanese delegation was very impressed with these developments in Camarines Sur, and they expect investments to pour in from Japan soon.
Fujitsu Philippines, Inc., as a member of the JCCIPI, will support the ICT training and development efforts of Camarines Sur.
