Fujitsu Philippines Unveils New Sparc Servers and Higher Performance and Capacity Storage Systems

Manila, November 5, 2004 — Fujitsu Philippines has launched five new high-end and mid-range models in its Primepower server lineup. The new lineup incorporates 1.89GHz Sparc64V (sparc64-5) processors based on 90nm semiconductor technology.

The Sparc 64 V processor provides a range of built-in reliability functions including highly accurate error detection, Error Checking and Correction, and instruction retry functions that include error correction and other high-precision RAS functions. The Primepower 650, 850, 900, and 1500 servers operate at the frequency of 1.89GHz, while the Primepower 2500 server operates at the frequency of 1.82GHz.

Fujitsu has also extended its Eternus3000 range of storage systems with higher performance, capacity, and connectivity options. Included in the Eternus3000 range are models 700, 500, 300, 100, and 80.

The top-of-the-line Eternus3000 model 700 is now equipped with a high-speed 3.2GHz processor to further increase the system processing power. To maximize system performance, Fujitsu has doubled both the internal bus transfer rate and cache memory transfer rate of model 700. The combined result of these new enhancements is a performance of 41,200 Iops (Input/Output per second).

The new Eternus 3000 series incorporates the 300GB fibre channel (FC) disk drive to boost storage capacity. With the new enhancement, the Eternus3000 model 700 and model 500 can achieve a maximum storage capacity of 72TB; and the other models can support storage space from 2.2TB to 36TB.

In addition, the host interfaces of Eternus3000 model 700,500, and 300 can now support iSCSI, in addition to FC, allowing customers to choose either FC-SAN or IP-SAN configurations.

Meanwhile, all Eternus3000 new models come with a Data Guard feature that the vendor said guarantees data consistency with technology that ensures data read/write integrity. All components in the Eternus3000 series have a redundant configuration to further protect data and uphold system availability, said the vendor.

The new Fujitsu Primepower servers and the Eternus3000 systems would be unveiled during the seminar, "Autonomous Computing - Optimizing IT for your Business", scheduled on November 11, 2004 at the CATS Disco, New World Hotel.

Chief operating, finance and/or information officers, data center managers and IT consultants of large and small to medium enterprises in the Philippines, as well as large IT distributors and resellers, are expected to attend the event organized by FPI and Fujitsu Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.
