Super portables – Fujitsu LifeBook P5020

Computer Times 7th July 2004

Design
Its sophisticated sleek silver and black finish will appeal to business users.

A longish LCD panel displays information such as battery level and hard disk activity. The panel can be viewed whether the screen is open or closed.

The latchless spindle design is secure and convenient. You can toggle wireless connectivity manually with a dedicated switch.

The modular bay enables the use of a battery to extend battery life.

Additional Ports
CompactFlash and SD/Memory Stick Pro slots dispense with the need for separate card readers. You can also use an optional mini S-video cable to hook up to an external display.

Screen and Sound
Text size is sharp but a little small at 1,280 x 768 pixels resolution. The screen is bright enough to be used in daylight. The speakers were good enough for multimedia playback.

Performance
MobileMark 2002 score of 146. Battery life rating of 240 minutes.

Reviewer’s comments
With the best benchmark scores among the three notebooks and good features, it’s an attractive buy.
