Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company
Lepanto Mining installs Voice over Frame Relay with WeSolv

To bring down long distance costs, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company, a leading gold-supplier in the Philippines and worldwide, has contracted WeSolv Open Computing to install Voice over Frame Relay network infrastructure throughout the organization.
With its main headquarters in Makati, Lepanto uses a frame relay connection going to its factory site at Benguet and 6 other remote sites. The Makati headquarters uses a PBX with an E/M connection towards a Cisco 3640 router. The same set-up goes with the factory site. The remote sites are using Cisco 2610 routers. These routers are voice-capable ready. The use of frame relay for their data and voice networks will bring cost-savings on long distance charges. After a series of testing, the network was completely installed in October 1999.
Says Peter Tan, EVP and GM of WeSolv: "The main challenge for today's corporate IT departments is to do more with less, more specifically, to provide an ever-expanding list of services within the constraints of a flat to modestly increasing budget. Frame relay networks transports not only data but voice as well. It is widely deployed, inexpensive, and proven, carrying a high-quality potential for voice communication."
