DFNN

Diversified Financial News Network, Inc. (DFNN), a 100 percent Filipino-owned and created company, is fast establishing itself as a preferred financial services gateway for investors to the Philippine market. "We've received correspondence from Germany, England, Belgium, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Japan and various states in the US asking about local markets," says DFNN president Ramon C. Garcia Jr. "These are overseas workers, Filipinos based abroad and even foreign nationals who are curious about the local capital markets and asking where they can invest. The general reaction to us has been: It's about time! "

The newly organized company offers this information and other financial services through its Web site, DFNN.com. Brokerage houses connected to DFNN.com can receive orders over the Internet and immediately service clients. Stockbrokers and their agents will be able to simultaneously distribute their Buy and Sell recommendations to their clients by using this new medium.

Apart from Internet services, DFNN offers similar services via kiosks. The soon to be listed company plans to install around 600 of these kiosk terminals in strategic places such as malls, coffee shops, and other public establishments. So far a few of these terminals are installed in pawnshops providing the public with information like bank rates and flight schedules. Already, DFNN is talking to financial institutions like Union Bank to extend the bank's payment services through these terminals.

Mr. Dennis Deveza, DFNN's EVP/ COO, turned to WeServ Systems International, Inc., the software development subsidiary of Fujitsu Philippines, Inc., to help design and develop informational services, providing up-to-date bank rates and flight schedules. By a touch of the screen, people will have a good idea of the day's exchange and interest rates, or plan trips with their favorite airline through an artfully crafted flight schedule screens.

DFNN's kiosk service, a brainchild of Mr. Deveza, is envisioned not merely as an information box, but as a fully automated transaction machine. In the near future, Mr. Deveza sees people walking in popular café planning trips, placing hotel reservations and acquiring plane tickets via these terminals while drinking their favorite frapuccinos. And WeServ hopes to be the preferred partner in DFNN's future endeavor, providing not only development services but also solutions like Smartcity, Fujitsu's smart card system.
