Comclark

What comes to Mr. Dennis Anthony Uy's mind with regard to managing the first and only Internet Service Provider in Angeles City and the whole of Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) is that customer service remains the winning ingredient to gain market share in e-business.

As President and CEO of Comclark Network and Technology Corporation, Mr. Uy focuses mainly on having the company continuously provide its customers with the fastest access to the Internet. Using asymmetric connections via satellite, Comclark's Internet service results in unparalleled speed to allow fast access in seconds among its Internet subscribers.

IT Arm

Excellent technical support manned by top-notch IT technical team is also Comclark's major advantage over other ISP's in the country. The Information Technology arm of Saver's Group of Companies, one of the biggest conglomerates in Pampanga, has a special partnership and integration with dominant carrier Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Co. (PLDT).

Through the state-of-the-art PLDT Nationwide Brains Network, subscribers can be assured of the fastest and widest nationwide roaming access than any other ISP's in the country.

Its primary services include Cable Internet Services servicing the whole Angeles and CSEZ area through its Fiber-Optic Technology, 56KBPS Nationwide Internet Subscription Service, Server Co-location, Leased-Line Services and Instanet Prepaid Service.

Instanet has veered away from the typical pre-paid systems, building a brand new all-digital system exclusively for Comclark's subscribers. And because its system rides on PLDT's Brains Exchange, users are guaranteed with the superior performance that comes from the country's largest IP and communication backbone. This gives users the accessibility to use their accounts in key cities and provinces.

Beginnings of Comclark

When the Mondragon Leisure and Resorts Corporation (MLRC) established Holiday Inn Resort-Clarkfield in 1996, MLRC needed an efficient cable television company that could provide their cable TV and Pay-Per-View requirements. No cable network from Metro Manila dared to offer its services.

The Angeles City Cable Television Network (ACCTN) of the Savers Group decided to set up an entirely new cable system at the MLRC and embarked on its first multi-million-peso project at the CSEZ.

The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) granted the company a 25-year franchise to operate the cable TV service for the entire CSEZ, renewable for another 25 years. As a result, the company expanded its coverage to include the CDC staff houses, the Air Force City, Redwood Villas, the Commercial Center, Fontana Leisure Estates, and other locators at the CSEZ.

In 1998, Comclark became the first and only ISP in the Zone in partnership with Clark Telecommunications Company. It is the only ISP that is applicable to the three major telephone systems in Angeles City - Datelcom, Digitel, and Smart.

Comclark offers value-added services that include dedicated dial-up services, corporate Internet/Intranet solutions, virtual hosting packages, web development services, free web space, leased line service, and domain hosting.

In January 2000, Comclark merged with another major player in the telecom industry, Sear Telecommunications, Inc. to provide the region with its first International Gateway Facility. A 1-800 toll free number is accessible to users for any concerns regarding their connection to Comclark.

FPI's reliable support

The partnership with Fujitsu Philippines, Inc. through its networking and communications subsidiary, WeSolv Open Computing, started as early as Comclark ISP's beginnings in 1998. WeSolv has provided all of Comclark's Cisco routers strategically located at their office in Clark and another in ePLDT Vitro's IDC co-location site. The company has also purchased Cisco access servers and Voice-over-IP solution that runs in Comclark's offices in Makati, Clark, and Angeles. The company will soon implement IP telephony.

Mr. Uy stresses that the company looks at FPI/WeSolv's reliable technical support, which is the major factor in choosing its networking supplier. "Although it is also another important factor to consider, the price is not what I really look for. The support and capability count the most to better serve our clients. Additionally, I considered FPI/WeSolv because it successfully installed the infrastructure equipment for PLDT Brains network."
